Where it came from
Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? is a 2024 television anime adaptation produced by studio project No.9, based on the light novel series written by Kei Sazane and illustrated by neco. The narrative centers on a high-fantasy world where a war between five races has been rewritten by a hero, leaving the protagonist, Kai, as the only individual who recalls the true history. The project was conceived as part of the studio's broader efforts to adapt popular light novel properties into visual formats, aiming to blend action-oriented fantasy with mystery-driven storytelling.
The character designs for the anime were handled by Mina Oosawa, who adapted the original aesthetic established by illustrator neco. The production team sought to balance the gritty, conflict-heavy nature of the five-race war with the distinct character expressions necessary for a character-focused light novel adaptation. Upon release, the series was positioned within the competitive summer 2024 seasonal anime landscape, drawing attention primarily from fans of the source material who were interested in seeing the complex world-building of Sazane's work translated into animation.
