Lua is a saintess candidate who possesses the power of healing. But her ability had one flaw: she could only heal others by transferring their wounds onto herself. Because of this, others bullied her, calling her the "Fallen Saintess." But it didn't bother Lua because her best friend Arianne always stood up for her.
One day, Lua's crush, Commander Garrett, was on the brink of death from a beast attack. Lua healed him, which left her on the verge of death. When she woke up, she learned that all the credit was given to Arianne, and she finally saw her best friend's true color. Devastated, Lua is lost and helpless when the second prince appears in front of her with a tempting offer. What would happen to Lua as she begins her new life as a villainess?

Where it came from
Released in 2025 by Imageworks Studio, With Vengeance, Sincerely, Your Broken Saintess emerged as a notable addition to the contemporary fantasy anime landscape. The series was produced during a period of high demand for subversions of the 'reincarnation' and 'villainess' tropes, aiming to distinguish itself by focusing on the psychological toll of performative piety within a rigid religious hierarchy. The studio sought a visual language that balanced ethereal, high-fantasy aesthetics with jarring, visceral shifts in tone to reflect the protagonist's internal instability.
The creative direction leaned into gothic-inspired character designs, emphasizing sharp, angular silhouettes that contrast with traditional saintly iconography. While the series was developed to cater to established fans of the genre, its reception highlighted a broader appreciation for its darker, narrative-driven approach compared to more conventional light-novel adaptations. Critics and viewers often pointed to the interplay between the delicate art style and the narrative’s aggressive emotional arc as the core element of its design philosophy.
