Where it came from
With You: Mitsumeteitai, released in 2000, is an original video animation (OVA) produced by the studio Triple X. It emerged during a period in the late 1990s and early 2000s when the adult animation market in Japan was highly prolific, often focusing on condensed romantic narratives adapted from visual novels or original scripts aimed at a niche demographic of anime enthusiasts.
The production reflects the aesthetic conventions of its time, prioritizing character-driven vignettes and a sentimental tone consistent with the melodramatic tendencies of the era's OVA market. As a title from a specialized studio, it was primarily distributed through direct-to-video channels, receiving little in the way of critical mainstream assessment but serving as a representative example of the studio's broader catalog of short-form, stylistically uniform animated works.
