World Trigger 3rd Season

World Trigger 3rd Season was released in 2021 as the continuation of the tactical science fiction series adapted from Daisuke Ashihara’s long-running manga. Produced by Toei Animation, this season focuses on the B-Rank Rank Wars, a central element of the source material that emphasizes strategic combat and team-based cooperation rather than traditional shonen power escalation. The season was highly anticipated by the existing fanbase, as it sought to maintain the series' reputation for intricate world-building and character development.

The animation direction for the third season continued the series' signature approach to large-scale ensemble battles, balancing the complexity of the Trigger-based combat system with the personal narratives of the Border agents. Under the stewardship of Toei, the production aimed to provide a faithful adaptation of Ashihara’s storyboards, which are noted for their attention to tactical detail. Upon its release, it was received positively by viewers who appreciated the series' commitment to long-form storytelling and its departure from typical action tropes.
