Yankee-kun na Yamada-kun to Megane-chan to Majo

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan and Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo are two of the most recognizable manga series created by Miki Yoshikawa. In 2015, this special release served as a commemorative bridge between these two popular titles, blending the comedic character archetypes and supernatural school settings that defined Yoshikawa's mid-2010s output. It functions as a meta-textual exploration of her creative evolution, designed to reward long-term readers of her work who followed the transition from her debut serialization to the success of her later supernatural comedy.

The design of this special publication reflects the crisp, expressive visual style that became Yoshikawa’s signature during the peak of her popularity in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. By juxtaposing the delinquent school tropes of her earlier work with the witch-based magical mystery of her later hit, the item acts as a self-referential piece of fan service. It was received as a nostalgic celebration of her career trajectory, emphasizing the playful interplay between her established casts and the aesthetic continuity she maintained across these distinct narrative universes.
