Where it came from
Yattokame Tanteidan was produced by the studio No Side and released in 2007 as a short-form television series. It is a niche work emerging from the mid-2000s landscape of experimental or regional Japanese animation, specifically created to highlight the culture and locales of the Nagoya region. The title derives from a local Nagoya dialect phrase meaning 'it has been a long time,' setting the tone for a series focused on local rediscovery.
The design and narrative approach sought to blend light mystery elements with travelogue-style storytelling, serving as a promotional vessel for local tourism and heritage. Given its limited distribution and specialized subject matter, the series reached a very specific audience of regional enthusiasts and completionist collectors of obscure anime, receiving little mainstream critical attention outside of its home prefecture.
