Where it came from
Yellow is a seminal 1990 song by the British rock band Coldplay, released as the second single from their debut studio album, Parachutes. Written collectively by the band members, the song emerged from the creative atmosphere of their early sessions at Rockfield Studios. It is widely noted for its driving guitar riff and earnest, emotive lyrics, which marked a departure from the more melancholic tones prevalent in late 90s alternative rock, helping to define the band's signature melodic sound.
The song was produced by the band alongside Ken Nelson and was instrumental in elevating Coldplay to international prominence. Musically, it sought to blend a sense of intimacy with a grand, anthem-like scale. Upon its release, it was met with significant critical acclaim for its sincerity and accessibility, quickly becoming a staple of modern rock radio and arguably the most recognizable track of the band's early career.
