One will to create oceans. One will to summon the mulberry fields.
One will to slaughter countless devils. One will to eradicate innumerable immortals.
Only my will… is eternal.
A Will Eternal tells the tale of Bai Xiaochun, an endearing but exasperating young man who is driven primarily by his fear of death and desire to live forever, but who deeply values friendship and family.

Where it came from
Yi Nian Yongheng, known in English as A Will Eternal, is a Chinese animated series based on the popular xianxia web novel by Er Gen. Produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures and animated by B. C. May Pictures, the series premiered in 2020 as part of Tencent's aggressive expansion into high-quality 3D donghua. The production sought to capture the blend of high-stakes cultivation fantasy and lighthearted, comedic character-driven narrative that defined the source material.
The character design and visual direction focus on a stylized, expressive aesthetic that balances traditional cultivation tropes with a vibrant, modern animation technique. By emphasizing the protagonist Bai Xiaochun’s humorous personality against a backdrop of grand, sweeping landscapes, the studio aimed to differentiate the show from the more stoic, serious fantasy epics common in the genre at the time. The series received significant praise for its consistent animation quality and its ability to maintain a faithful, engaging adaptation of a complex, long-running literary work.
