Yi Nian Yongheng: Zhizi Pian

Yi Nian Yongheng: Zhizi Pian, known as A Will Eternal: Child Chapter, is a spin-off production from the critically acclaimed Chinese animated series adapted from Er Gen's popular web novel. Produced by B.CMAY PICTURES, the ONA serves as a specialized expansion of the primary narrative, aiming to explore character backstories and developmental milestones that deepen the viewer's understanding of the protagonist, Bai Xiaochun. The studio utilized their signature 3D-assisted 2D animation style to maintain visual consistency with the main series while providing a more intimate focus on its subject matter.

The design philosophy behind the Child Chapter centers on capturing the whimsical yet high-stakes essence of the original xianxia source material. B.CMAY PICTURES sought to balance the comedic, lighthearted temperament of the protagonist with the grand, ethereal aesthetic typical of the genre. Upon release, the production was well-received by the established fanbase, largely due to its ability to retain the fast-paced, imaginative spirit of the novels while refining the character models to allow for more nuanced emotional expressions during the shorter episodic format.
