Where it came from
Yi Nian Yongheng: Hezong Pian, or A Will Eternal: Hezong Chapter, is a continuation of the popular animated series adapted from Er Gen's web novel. Produced by B.CMAY PICTURES, the series represents a significant entry in the studio's push to adapt high-fantasy xianxia literature into high-quality Chinese ONA (Original Net Animation) formats. The Hezong chapter specifically advances the story of the protagonist, Bai Xiaochun, focusing on his maturation and the complex political and mystical conflicts that define his cultivation journey.
The visual direction, characteristic of B.CMAY PICTURES, emphasizes fluid 3D animation blended with traditional 2D aesthetic sensibilities to capture the dynamic action sequences typical of the genre. The series was developed to capitalize on the success of earlier seasons, aiming to satisfy a dedicated fanbase through detailed world-building and character design that reflects the lighthearted yet dangerous tone of the source material. It was received as a standard-bearer for modern Chinese studio animation, praised for its technical improvements and its faithful translation of the source novel's narrative arcs.
