Where it came from
Released in 2026 by Imagica Infos, You don't know Gunma yet.: Reiwa version represents the latest iteration in a long-running cultural project dedicated to the unique geography, history, and local quirks of Gunma Prefecture. Following a legacy of manga and previous broadcast adaptations, this series was produced to bridge the gap between traditional regional tourism promotion and contemporary digital-first storytelling, focusing on the specific societal and infrastructural shifts seen in Japan’s Reiwa era.
The series design maintains the comedic, documentary-style aesthetic established by its predecessors, utilizing a blend of informative narration and character-driven skits. It aims to demystify Gunma for a modern audience by highlighting under-the-radar cultural landmarks and regional pride. The project received a generally positive reception from domestic viewers for its self-deprecating humor and its efforts to modernize local heritage, continuing the franchise's mission to elevate Gunma's profile in the national consciousness.
