Where it came from
Yuuki wo Dashite, which translates to 'Take Courage,' is a song and accompanying visual segment produced by NHK for its long-running children's programming block. It was created as part of an effort to instill values of perseverance and emotional resilience in younger audiences, fitting into the broadcaster's mission to provide educational and moral guidance through multimedia storytelling.
The visual design reflects the quintessential NHK aesthetic of the era, utilizing clean lines, bright color palettes, and expressive character animation designed to be accessible to a preschool and early-elementary demographic. The production team focused on a minimalist but warm illustrative style that prioritized clear messaging and emotional resonance, a hallmark of NHK's studio philosophy which emphasizes clarity and gentle engagement over complex or frenetic animation.
