Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs was produced by studio Xebec and premiered in 2018 as a television anime adaptation of the manga series written and illustrated by Tadahiro Miura. The series belongs to the long-standing tradition of supernatural romantic comedies featured in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, blending ghost-story elements with the lighthearted tropes of the harem genre. The narrative centers on a physically sensitive protagonist who seeks a peaceful life but finds himself embroiled in the afterlife affairs of a boarding house for spirits.

The adaptation was directed by Tsuyoshi Nagasawa, who sought to translate Miura's distinct character designs and dynamic, fan-service-oriented art style into motion. While the series received mixed critical reception due to its reliance on established genre tropes, it remains a notable example of Xebec's late-stage output before the studio underwent significant restructuring. The production is recognized for its vibrant color palette and focus on character-driven comedy, solidifying its place within the broader landscape of 2010s anime.
