Abyssinian Crimsonwing

The Abyssinian Crimsonwing, scientifically classified as Cryptospiza salvadorii, was formally described by the ornithologist Tommaso Salvadori in the late 19th century. Indigenous to the high-altitude montane forests of East Africa, particularly in Ethiopia and parts of Kenya, this estrildid finch evolved within isolated forest fragments.
