Abyssinian White-eye

The Abyssinian white-eye, Zosterops abyssinicus, is a small passerine bird species native to the Horn of Africa and the southwestern Arabian Peninsula. Formally described by the French naturalist Félix Édouard Guérin-Méneville in 1843, the species was categorized based on specimens collected during mid-19th-century ornithological expeditions in Ethiopia. Its classification within the Zosteropidae family reflects a broader evolutionary lineage known for high levels of speciation and localized endemism across the African continent.

Physically, the species is defined by its characteristic rounded wing and tail shapes, which facilitate the agile, fluttery flight patterns typical of the white-eye genus.
