Ansorge's Greenbul

Ansorge's greenbul (Eurillas ansorgei) was formally described by Ernst Hartert in 1907. It is named in honor of William John Ansorge, a German-born physician and naturalist who collected extensively across Africa, particularly in Angola and Uganda, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The species was established as part of the broader effort by European ornithologists to classify the avian biodiversity of the central African rainforests.

The bird is characterized by its rounded wings and rounded tail, physical traits that suit its lifestyle as a skulking inhabitant of the understory in dense primary forests. While the species does not have a single human designer, its classification represents the culmination of 20th-century taxonomic study.
