Blue-crowned Trogon

The Blue-crowned Trogon, Trogon curucui, is a sedentary avian species native to the humid forests and woodlands of South America, primarily within the Amazon and Atlantic Forest biomes. Ornithologically categorized within the Trogonidae family, the species was formally described by Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus in 1766. Its evolutionary design features a distinct rounded wing shape and a rounded tail, physical characteristics that facilitate short, agile flights between branches in dense forest canopies.

The coloration and morphology of the species reflect its ecological niche as a sit-and-wait predator, primarily feeding on insects and fruit.
