Brown-necked Raven

The brown-necked raven, or Corvus ruficollis, is a desert-dwelling corvid found across North Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Central Asia. Scientifically identified and categorized during the height of 19th-century ornithological expeditions, the species is distinguished by its namesake copper-brown neck plumage, which contrasts with its otherwise jet-black body. The bird was formally described by ornithologist René Primevère Lesson in 1831.
