White-naped Jay

The White-naped Jay, scientifically known as Cyanocorax cyanopogon, is a passerine bird native to the scrublands and forests of eastern and central Brazil. Part of the Corvidae family, this species was formally described by the German naturalist Maximilian zu Wied-Neuwied in the early 19th century during his extensive explorations of the Brazilian interior. It occupies a distinct ecological niche in the Caatinga and Cerrado biomes, where its social behavior and vocalizations have long been subjects of study for ornithologists interested in the evolutionary divergence of South American jays.
