Common Nighthawk

The Common Nighthawk, taxonomically classified as Chordeiles minor, is a crepuscular member of the nightjar family, endemic to North America. Historically documented by naturalists through the 18th and 19th centuries, the species earned its common name from its distinct resemblance to hawks during flight, despite being entirely unrelated.
