Crested Black-Tyrant

The Crested Black-Tyrant (Knipolegus lophotes) is a distinctive member of the tyrant flycatcher family, primarily inhabiting the open cerrado and savanna landscapes of central and eastern Brazil, as well as parts of Uruguay and Argentina. Taxonomically described in the 19th century, the species is named for its unique erectile crest, a feature that distinguishes it from other members of the genus.
