Cuban Vireo

The Cuban Vireo, scientifically identified as Vireo gundlachii, is an avian species endemic to the island of Cuba. It was formally described in 1861 by the German naturalist Jean Cabanis, who named the species in honor of the Cuban-based naturalist Juan Gundlach. As a member of the vireo family, its evolution has been shaped by the unique ecological niches of the Caribbean, resulting in its distinctive physical characteristics, such as rounded wings and a notched tail, which facilitate its movement through dense woodland and scrub habitats.
