Dusky Pigeon

The Dusky Pigeon, scientifically classified as Patagioenas goodsoni, is a species endemic to the humid forests of western Colombia and northwestern Ecuador. It was first formally described by the ornithologist Ernst Hartert in 1902. As a member of the Columbidae family, its evolutionary path is rooted in the tropical lowlands of the Chocó region, where it has adapted to dense canopy environments. The species is characterized by its distinct, subtle plumage, which serves as a cryptic adaptation for life in deep shade.

The physical design of the Dusky Pigeon reflects its specialized ecological niche.
