Eastern Rosella

The Eastern Rosella, Platycercus eximius, is native to southeastern Australia and has long been celebrated for its striking, multi-colored plumage. It was formally described by naturalist George Shaw in 1792, emerging from the early colonial period of Australian exploration where European naturalists were cataloging the continent's distinct avian biodiversity.
