Eastern Subalpine Warbler

The Eastern Subalpine Warbler is a small, insectivorous passerine historically categorized within the Sylviidae family, though modern taxonomy places it in the genus Curruca. It is primarily found across the Mediterranean basin, favoring dense scrubland and macchia habitats. Evolutionarily, this species developed its distinctive notched tail and rounded wings as adaptations for agile, short-burst flight maneuvers required to navigate the thick, thorny undergrowth of its native Mediterranean breeding grounds.
