Foothill Screech-Owl

The Foothill Screech-Owl, Megascops roraimae, is a species historically categorized within the broader complex of tropical screech-owls found in northern South America. Its classification has undergone significant taxonomic revision, as ornithologists shifted from morphological observation to genetic analysis to distinguish it from the more widespread vermiculated screech-owl group.
