Gray-eyed Bulbul

The Gray-eyed Bulbul (Iole propinqua) was formally described by the French naturalist Jacques Pucheran in 1844. As a member of the Pycnonotidae family, this species is native to the forests and scrublands of Southeast Asia, ranging from Southern China through the Indochinese peninsula. It emerged into the Western biological canon during a period of intense European exploration and classification of Asian avifauna, serving as a distinct example of the morphological adaptations—such as its characteristic rounded wings and tail—common to the Iole genus.

The biological profile of the Gray-eyed Bulbul is defined by its muted, olive-brown plumage and distinctively pale eyes.
