Gray Goshawk

The Gray Goshawk, Tachyspiza novaehollandiae, is a raptor species native to the coastal regions of Australia. Unlike many other birds of prey, this species is noted for its distinct polymorphism, appearing in both a grey-and-white morph and a rarer, pure-white morph. Evolutionarily, these features—such as its broad wings and rounded tail—have been honed for maneuverability within dense forest canopies, allowing it to navigate thick vegetation while hunting small mammals and other birds.
