Green Iora

The Green Iora, Aegithina viridissima, is a passerine bird native to the Sundaic region, inhabiting lowland forests in the Malay Peninsula, Borneo, and Sumatra. As a member of the Aegithinidae family, it occupies a specialized ecological niche in the high canopy, often going unnoticed by observers due to its preference for dense foliage. Unlike its more widespread relative, the Common Iora, this species has experienced significant population declines driven by extensive habitat loss throughout its range, leading it to be categorized as near-threatened.
