Green Inca

The Green Inca, scientifically classified as Coeligena conradii, is a species of hummingbird belonging to the Trochilidae family. Like other members of the genus Coeligena, it is native to the humid montane forests of the northern Andes. These birds were historically cataloged during the 19th-century boom of ornithological exploration in South America, a period when European naturalists sought to document the immense biodiversity of the continent. The taxonomy of this bird has frequently been debated among ornithologists, as it is often considered a subspecies or a close relative of the Bronzy Inca, reflecting the complex evolutionary history of these high-altitude avian species.
