Heuglin's Spurfowl

Heuglin's Spurfowl, scientifically classified as Pternistis icterorhynchus, is a gamebird native to the northeastern regions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, and neighboring areas in Central Africa. It belongs to the Phasianidae family and is noted for its distinctive rounded wing and tail shapes, which are characteristic of its genus. The species was formally described by the German explorer and ornithologist Theodor von Heuglin during his mid-19th-century expeditions through the region, and it remains a subject of interest for field ornithologists studying the biodiversity of the Congo Basin.
