Himalayan Shortwing

The Himalayan Shortwing, classified as Brachypteryx cruralis, is a passerine bird native to the dense undergrowth and moist forests of the Himalayas and surrounding ranges. Historically categorized as a subspecies of the White-bellied Shortwing, it was elevated to full species status following recent phylogenetic research that highlighted distinct vocalizations and genetic variations.
