Hooded Mountain Tanager

The Hooded Mountain Tanager, scientifically classified as Buthraupis montana, is a member of the tanager family native to the humid montane forests of the northern and central Andes. These birds are primarily found in high-altitude regions across Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia, occupying a specialized ecological niche in the cloud forest canopy. Evolutionary adaptation has resulted in their distinctive rounded wing and tail shapes, which provide the maneuverability necessary for navigating the dense, tangled vegetation of their steep, misty habitats.
