Jerdon's Minivet

Jerdon's Minivet, scientifically classified as Pericrocotus albifrons, was first described by the ornithologist Edward Blyth in 1846. It was named in honor of Thomas C. Jerdon, a surgeon and naturalist who made significant contributions to the documentation of Indian fauna during the mid-19th century. This species is endemic to the dry deciduous forests of Myanmar, inhabiting a relatively restricted geographical range that has made it a subject of focused conservation interest.

The bird is characterized by its slender, active silhouette, featuring pointed wings that facilitate agile flight through forest canopies and a distinctively notched tail. Its evolutionary design reflects an adaptation to insectivorous foraging in scrubland environments.
