Kinglet Manakin

The Kinglet Manakin, or Machaeropterus regulus, is a species of bird belonging to the Pipridae family, native to the humid forests of eastern Brazil. It is characterized by its small, rounded wings and short, rounded tail, which are adaptations suited to its maneuverability within the dense understory of its habitat. The species was historically categorized based on its unique plumage, specifically the bright orange-yellow crown patch that contrasts with its brownish-olive body, providing an essential visual marker for ornithologists documenting Atlantic Forest biodiversity.
