Lemon-bellied White-eye

The Lemon-bellied White-eye (Zosterops chloris) is a passerine bird native to the islands of the Wallacea region in Indonesia. Primarily found in lowland forests, scrub, and mangroves, the species was formally described by the French naturalist Charles Lucien Bonaparte in 1850. As a member of the Zosteropidae family, it reflects the evolutionary characteristics of island-dwelling white-eyes, which are often studied for their high levels of endemism and adaptive radiation across the Indonesian archipelago.

The physical design of the Lemon-bellied White-eye is marked by its distinctive yellow underparts and a prominent white ring around the eye, which gives the genus its common name. The species displays rounded wings and a rounded tail, anatomical features that are well-suited to the short-distance, agile flight patterns required for navigating dense tropical foliage.
