Lined Forest-Falcon

The Lined Forest-Falcon, taxonomically classified as Micrastur gilvicollis, was formally described by the ornithologist Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot in 1817. As a member of the Falconidae family native to the tropical rainforests of the Amazon Basin, its classification emerged from the early nineteenth-century European tradition of cataloging South American avian biodiversity.
