Plumbeous Forest-Falcon

Its classification was formally established by the ornithologist William L. Sclater in 1918, based on specimens collected in the humid lowland forests that characterize this specific bioregion. As a member of the forest-falcon genus, it evolved as a highly specialized predator, distinguished from its relatives by its plumage and vocalizations, which have allowed it to persist in dense, often inaccessible forest understories.
