Long-tailed Tapaculo

The Long-tailed Tapaculo, Scytalopus micropterus, is a member of the Rhinocryptidae family, a group of elusive, ground-dwelling passerines primarily native to the Andean regions of South America. Evolutionarily, these birds are defined by their adaptation to dense undergrowth, characterized by short, rounded wings that favor maneuverability in thick foliage over long-distance flight.
