Loten's Sunbird

Loten's Sunbird, scientifically classified as Cinnyris lotenius, is a passerine bird native to peninsular India and Sri Lanka. It was named in honor of Joan Gideon Loten, a Dutch governor of Ceylon during the 18th century who was a notable naturalist and patron of botanical and zoological illustration. The species inhabits gardens, forest edges, and scrublands, where it plays a critical role as a pollinator for various nectar-bearing flowers.
