Pacific Hornero

The Pacific hornero, known scientifically as Furnarius cinnamomeus, is a member of the ovenbird family native to the tropical dry forests and scrublands of western Ecuador and northwestern Peru. It was historically considered a subspecies of the widespread pale-legged hornero, but taxonomic analysis of its distinct vocalizations and subtle morphological differences, such as its broader wings and notched tail, led to its recognition as a separate species. This categorization reflects the ongoing efforts of ornithologists to map the biodiversity of the Tumbesian region, a recognized hotspot of endemism.
