Plain-crowned Spinetail

The Plain-crowned Spinetail, scientifically classified as Synallaxis gujanensis, belongs to the family Furnariidae, a group of birds known as the ovenbirds. It is primarily found across the tropical regions of South America, inhabiting the understory of humid forests, scrublands, and river edges. This species was formally described by the German naturalist Johann Friedrich Gmelin in 1789, emerging from the era of late 18th-century European taxonomic expansion, where the focus was on cataloging the biodiversity of the Neotropics.
