Rüppell's Weaver

The Rüppell's weaver, scientifically classified as Ploceus galbula, is a passerine bird native to the Horn of Africa and the southwestern Arabian Peninsula. It was first formally described by the German naturalist Eduard Rüppell during his nineteenth-century expeditions to Northeast Africa. Named in his honor, the species is recognized for its distinctively broad wing shape and notched tail, physical traits that are well-adapted to the arid scrublands and riverine habitats where these birds build their complex, hanging woven nests.
