Sooty Myzomela

The Sooty Myzomela, scientifically classified as Myzomela tristrami, is an avian species endemic to the island of Makira in the Solomon Islands. It was formally described in the late 19th century by the naturalist Henry Baker Tristram, for whom the species is named. The bird occupies a specific ecological niche within the dense rainforests of its native habitat, where it has evolved distinct physical characteristics, including its characteristically rounded wings and a notched tail structure that aids in its agile flight through the understory.
