Yellow-plumed Honeyeater

The Yellow-plumed Honeyeater, classified as Ptilotula ornata, is a passerine bird native to the temperate woodlands and mallee scrublands of southern Australia. It belongs to the Meliphagidae family and was formally described by the ornithologist John Gould in the mid-19th century. Like many species documented during the colonial expansion into the Australian interior, its identification was part of a broader scientific effort to map the unique biodiversity of the continent's arid and semi-arid zones.

The bird is distinguished by the prominent yellow patch behind its eye, which gives the species its common name.
