Sulu Hornbill

The Sulu hornbill, Anthracoceros montani, is a critically endangered avian species endemic to the Sulu Archipelago in the Philippines. It was scientifically described in the late 19th century and represents a unique evolutionary lineage within the Bucerotidae family, defined physically by its broad wing structure and distinctively rounded tail. The species has historically been restricted to a shrinking area of primary lowland forest, a habitat that has faced severe degradation due to deforestation and agricultural expansion.
