Sumatran Green-Pigeon

The Sumatran Green-Pigeon, scientifically classified as Treron oxyurus, is an endemic species restricted to the montane forests of Sumatra. Historically documented by naturalists in the late 19th century, its existence is intrinsically tied to the primary rainforests of the Barisan Mountains. The species occupies a specific niche within the canopy, relying on the diverse fruiting trees of these high-altitude ecosystems to survive, which has made it a subject of interest for ornithologists studying avian adaptation in isolated island environments.
