Taiwan Bush-Robin

The Taiwan Bush-Robin, Tarsiger formosanus, is an endemic passerine species inhabiting the high-altitude mountain forests of Taiwan. Long considered a subspecies of the Collared Bush-Robin, it was elevated to full species status following molecular and morphological research that distinguished it by its unique plumage patterns and genetic lineage. As a resident of the island's dense coniferous undergrowth, its discovery and classification are rooted in the rigorous biological surveying of Taiwan's central mountain range during the twentieth century.

The bird is characterized by a distinctive, rounded wing shape suited for maneuverability within thick brush and a pointed tail that assists in navigating its rugged, high-elevation habitat.
