Tanimbar Corella

The Tanimbar corella, scientifically known as Cacatua goffiniana, is a species of cockatoo endemic to the Tanimbar Islands of Indonesia. It was first described by the ornithologist Otto Finsch in 1863, emerging into the broader scientific consciousness during the colonial-era interest in documenting Southeast Asian biodiversity. Its classification within the genus Cacatua reflects its evolutionary lineage, characterized by distinct morphological traits such as its compact frame and rounded wings and tail, which have evolved to suit the dense forest canopies of its native archipelago.
