Tarim Babbler

The Tarim Babbler, scientifically classified as Rhopophilus albosuperciliaris, is a passerine bird native to the arid scrublands of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, China. Historically treated as a subspecies of the White-browed Tit-warbler, it was elevated to full species status following genomic and morphological studies that highlighted its distinct divergence. Its evolution is characterized by specialized adaptations to extreme desert environments, resulting in the subtle, cryptic coloration and the distinct rounded wings and notched tail that assist in maneuvering through dense, low-lying desert vegetation.
